Philosophy of Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic
medicine is the art and science of disease diagnosis, treatment and
prevention. It emphasizes a holistic, individualized approach to medicine
that integrates traditional knowledge with current research. Naturopathic
medicine works with the vis medicatrix
naturae or healing power of nature to stimulate the body’s own
innate ability to heal. The Latin word for doctor or “docere” also means
teacher. Part of an ND’s role is to educate patients in the care of their
own health. "Every patient carries her or his own doctor inside." Dr. Albert
Schweitzer

Herbal Medicine
The constituents of plants are the basis of modern pharmacology and plants
have been for healing since the beginning of civilization. Herbal remedies
exist in many forms such as tinctures, teas, tablets, salves, creams, baths
and aromatherapy.
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine
The goal is to balance the flow of Qi (energy) through meridian pathways in
the body using acupuncture and herbs. Tongue and pulse diagnosis are also
used in assessing health.
